Vegetable ivory or tagua nut is a product made from the hard white endosperm of the seeds of certain palm trees, native of South America's tropical rainforests.    Because it is naturally durable and similar to elephant ivory.    The belief among the tribal members was that the nut maintained harmony among family members and friends.   The Tagua would be carved, sliced, polished and dyed in various organic colors to make jewelry.
